Branding the Artist & Their Artwork
As was previously written, the more you know and understand about your target market, the better your marketing program will be. The same adage holds true for the “branding” of you, the artist. Branding will not help someone buy your art but branding will help you and your artwork to stand out in the crowd.
Try to think of branding as a promise from you, the artist, to your target market. It is a promise that is carried through in all that you say, do and advertise in order to promote to your market. This promise or “message” is consistently delivered over time and space, which then develops you and your art into a brand. A clear and consistent brand will deliver your message clearly and consistently to your target market. Many businesses spend a lot of money marketing but will skip the step of branding their corporation, product or services. This type of marketing sends mixed signals and raises questions about you, with your consumers.
Branding does take time to achieve, but can be accelerated depending on your marketing and promotional programs. Today, now more than ever an artist needs to develop a branding program to supplement their marketing efforts in order to stand out and be successful. Art Marketing Strategies will help the artist to successfully develop and market their brand.
Branding will build credibility, connects the target market to you, motivates the target market to act and finally branding will breed loyalty to you and your art.
